Austin Technology Incubator “graduates” raise $220M

The Austin Technology Incubator (ATI) will celebrate the 19 “graduate” companies that have successfully completed its clean energy, IT/wireless, and biosciences programs on Sept. 7, 2016 at the AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center.

ATI, the startup incubator for the University of Texas at Austin, and a part of the IC² Institute, has a 27-year track record of helping early stage technology companies achieve success in the capital markets. Over the past decade, ATI companies have added nearly $1 billion in economic value to the Austin area, creating approximately 7,000 jobs and generating more than $20 million in local tax revenue.

The 19 companies comprising the 2016 graduating class have collectively raised more than $220 million and have already recorded one IPO and two eight-figure mergers and acquisitions.

Wells Fargo is the lead sponsor for the graduation event, which will open with a cocktail reception to be followed by remarks from Austin Mayor Steve Adler, a recognition of the graduating companies, and a presentation of the Laura J. Kilcrease Award for Civic Entrepreneurship in honor of ATI’s founding director.

The 2016 graduating class includes:

  • Admittance Technologies — an instrumentation design company with algorithms and associated hardware to enhance the performance of cardiac devices, including pacemakers.
  • Aeglea BioTherapeutics (NASDAQ:AGLE) — a biotechnology company founded in 2013 committed to developing enzyme-based therapeutics in the field of amino acid metabolism to treat rare diseases and cancer.
  • Alafair Biosciences — an emerging medical device company developing a novel suite of products based on a non-cell adhesive hydrogel technology that protects and manages advanced wound healing.
  • AptamiR Therapeutics — a biotechnology company founded in 2012 with a revolutionary approach to cure obesity by converting fat-storing adipocytes into fat-burning adipocytes.
  • Bractlet — a clean energy company offering the most advanced commercial building energy analysis platform to accurately forecast savings from energy efficiency projects.
  • Circle Media — an IT/wireless company with data management and software solutions for the sports and entertainment industries.
  • Curtana Pharmaceuticals — a preclinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing small molecule therapeutics for cancer stem cells for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and other brain cancers.
  • Cyfeon — an IT/wireless company specializing in financial services compliance automation.
  • EyeQ — an IT/wireless company providing shopper-aware and responsive in-store displays.
  • InXero — an IT/wireless company providing a digital marketing hub for the indirect sales channel that helps distribution-centric businesses attract new customers and increase sales.
  • JR Thermal — a clean energy company offering novel technologies for heat transfer and thermal energy.
  • Lumos Pharma — a clinical-stage biotechnology company dedicated to developing a treatments for rare and neglected diseases, including Creatine Transporter Deficiency (CTD).
  • Lynx Laboratories — this maker of mobile 3-D scanning technology (acquired by Occipital).
  • Macrolynk — an IT/wireless company offering a social media platform to connect supply chain managers and suppliers.
  • The Magazine Channel — an IT/wireless company with a platform to pull niche content from different magazines into easy-to-navigate topics that fit customer interests.
  • Ridescout — this clean energy company with a mobile platform that aggregates user-specific public, private, and social transportation options was acquired by Daimler’s Moovel Group.
  • Riskpulse — an IT/wireless company offering the market’s most sophisticated weather guidance in a one-stop shop to optimize clients’ weather-influenced trades and transportation.
  • Seismos — a clean energy company that monitors oil and CO2 flow in reservoir in real time.
  • Structured Polymers — an IT/wireless company is the world’s first colored ink manufacturer for industrial 3D printers.
