The IC² Institute welcomes Robert Peterson as its new Director

Robert A. PetersonOn September 1st, Dr. Robert A. Peterson stepped into his new role as the IC² Institute’s Director. Prior to taking on this role as Director, Dr. Peterson served the IC² Institute and The University of Texas at Austin in a variety of capacities, both as a chaired professor and an administrator.

George Kozmetsky invited Dr. Peterson to become one of the Institute’s first Fellows when he created the Institute. Since that time, Dr. Peterson has served as the Director of Research and Deputy Director of the IC² Institute and as a department chair and associate dean in the McCombs School. In addition to being the Institute Director, he is Associate Vice President for Research at UT.

Dr. Peterson recently was interviewed by the Austin-American Statesman.  In the interview he discusses IC² Institute’s past, the lessons he learned over the years, and the direction in which he sees the Institute heading. When asked about translating Kozmetsky’s theories and the Institute’s research and mission into practice, Dr. Peterson responded, “Accomplishing the Institute’s ‘think and do’ mission is an ongoing and ever-changing goal… The term ‘IC²’ signifies the mission of the Institute — innovation, creativity and capital. These words guide everything done at the Institute and serve to integrate all of its ‘think and do’ activities. With a clear focus, the Institute is poised to reach heights that George Kozmetsky could only dream about.”
