BBR to release study of Texas black-owned businesses

On Thursday, June 19, the Bureau of Business Research (BBR) will announce the results of its statewide Survey of black-owned businesses.

Dr. Bruce Kellison, who led the survey research team, will be joined at 10:30 AM on the steps of the Texas Capitol building by State Senator Royce West, leaders of the Texas Association of African American Chambers of Commerce (TAAACC), and UT Austin President William Powers to announce the findings.

The report addresses metrics of black-owned businesses in Texas and obstacles perceived by business owners. It will be released on the IC² Institute website at the time of the event.

The study follows on BBR’s 2012 report, “Survey of Texas Hispanic-owned Businesses with Paid Employees.”
