Dr. Susan Broyles Sookram is a research associate on the “Texas Sexual Assault Victims Study: Services, Gaps, and Accessibility” project. She also assists with related projects on interpersonal and gendered violence administered by the Bureau of Business Research and the Institute on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault. Her previous research projects explored perceptions of intimate partner violence survivors in relation to racial attitudes and attitudes toward domestic violence, the relationship between identity and media use, and the effects of polarized political imagery. She recently graduated with a Ph.D. in Human Development, Culture, and Learning Sciences and has a master’s degree in Media Studies, both from the University of Texas at Austin. During her graduate studies, she taught a course on Intergroup Dialogue and assisted with courses on the psychological aspects of race, racism, gender, and women’s issues.
