Keene, NH Site Visit

Director Dr. Art Markman and researchers from IC² Institute conducted a site visit to Keene, New Hampshire and the surrounding New Hampshire and Vermont areas last week. The visit included a round-table working meeting with staff members from Senators Maggie Hassan and Jeanne Shaheen, Community Development Finance Authority, Monadnock Economic Development Corporation, the Hannah Grimes Center, and the President of Franklin Pierce University.

The research team also went to surrounding Brattleboro, Vermont to meet with the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation to learn about southern Vermont’s economic development efforts. Additionally, they visited Rindge, New Hampshire, to visit the Franklin Pierce campus and meet with academic and administrative leaders, and Filtrine Manufacturing to meet with industry leaders in the area.

The visit is part of an ongoing collaborative research project that began with Hannah Grimes Center for Entrepreneurship during their first annual Radically Rural Conference last September. Research associate Jonathan Alba has been conducting an exploratory study for the last 6 months on the rural incubator and the surrounding entrepreneurial ecosystem in Keene, NH.

“We were very impressed by the openness of the community to our efforts and the number of people the Hannah Grimes Center brought together. We are looking forward to continuing our collaboration with the community” – Dr. Art Markman
