Maaz Amjad

Career Fellow and Postdoctoral Fellow, UT

Dr. Maaz Amjad is a Provost Early Career Fellow and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Amjad develops and leverages AI technologies for Social Good. He uses artificial intelligence,computational linguistics, and natural language processing to create solutions for addressing socially compressing problems. Specifically, his work focuses on combating misinformation, detecting hate speech,and enhancing public health surveillance. With more than eight of experience working in artificial intelligence and computational linguistics, Dr. Amjad is developing AI technologies for improving opioids reporting prevention efforts in the United States. Dr. Amjad is also very passionate about contributing to scientific knowledge, promoting underrepresented communities in computing, especially in increasing access to educating.
