Medicare in Mexico: Innovating for Fairness and Cost Savings

This publication presents the results of a policy research project conducted during the 2006-2007 academic year that examined the availability of health coverage for U.S. retirees in Mexico. The project surveyed more than 1,000 retirees in Mexico, and students visited five retirement locations in Mexico. The students also researched Medicare and TRICARE and developed information on licensure of hospitals and physicians in Mexico and on immigration rules and limitations. In addition to presenting this research, this volume also includes the proceedings of a day-long conference held in Austin, Texas, on March 30, 2007, which included health care providers, retirees, regulators, and insurers.
