Portuguese Minister of Science visits the IC² Institute

Portuguese Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education Manuel Heitor visited the IC² Institute on June 14, 2016 to discuss The University of Texas at Austin’s ongoing programs with Portugal.

He was accompanied by Dr. António Rendas, Rector of the New University of Lisbon.

Since 2007, the IC² Institute has administered the UT Austin Portugal Program (CoLab) and the University Technology Enterprise Network (UTEN). CoLab promotes collaborative education and research programs between UT Austin and Portuguese universities in the fields of Digital Media, Advanced Computing, Mathematics, and Emerging Technologies, while UTEN develops Portuguese technology commercialization capacity and provides intensive mentoring to Portuguese tech companies trying to reach global markets.

Dr. Heitor has been an IC² Institute Fellow since 1996 and has contributed to numerous Institute publications, including several books in the International Series on Technology Policy and Innovation.

UTEN team with visitors
Dr. Heitor met with members of the IC² Institute’s UTEN Portugal team as well as Portuguese entrepreneurs participating in the UTEN Global Startup Program: André Leite, 2East; Alexandre Silva, Bliss; and Pedro Janela, WY Group.
