Description: Government policies impact an entrepreneur’s ability to succeed. Whether innovation is fostered or hindered depends on the policy adopted and its suitability for the local innovation ecosystem. This program will explore how science and technology policies can help build an innovation ecosystem for entrepreneurs as well as illuminating lessons learned from failed innovation policies from around the world. What challenges are faced by entrepreneurs and policymakers? How can entrepreneurs come together to learn the best methods for traversing regulatory pitfalls? What sorts of policies have been successful and what policies have failed? How can science and technology entrepreneurs help to influence important policy decisions? How can entrepreneurs better communicate their needs?

The webcast will be part of the GIST TechConnect series, offered by the U.S. Department of State’s Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) initiative. GIST empowers young innovators in 86 emerging economies worldwide. The IC² Institute participates in GIST as an implementor of startups boot camps and online programs, including the TechConnect series.
